Primitive Structures
ABOUT THE PRIMITIVE STRUCTURES
The Primitive Structures series depicts structures and presences that we would come upon in a primeval world; structures that we would be unable to determine by whom they were constructed, or what their function had been. Engagement with the work in this series brings about a cognitive state of affairs that would have been experienced were the original structures come upon in their proto environment. Light, which exists as both waves and particles, is in the Primitive Structures series depicted as particles, that is, as matter, resulting in a solidity, light as substance.
Narratives of inexplicable stories exist in the paintings. Mysterious figures of unknown origin, and objects that are not quite what they seem to be, make appearances. The world of the Primitive Structures is in various ways parallel to the one in which we live; a world that is never distinctly present, where there are aspects and goings-on around us that we cannot detect.
